Margaret Irvin has been a hospice social worker for eighteen years. Currently she is the Regional Veterans Coordinator for Sutter Care at Home Hospice (SCAH). She is responsible for collaborating the We Honor Veterans Program (WHV) with the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHAPCO) in SCAH nine branches. They have recently received national recognition for NHAPCO for their “Best Practices” in collaboration with the East Bay Veteran Community Partnership (VCP). SCAH has the honor of being one of five hospices nationwide to be selected to participate in the WHV Program creation of a Level V. She also is the Co-lead for Sutter Health Veteran Inclusive Resource Group (IRG). Margaret has a strong passion for the California Death with Dignity Act and recently collaborated with the Death with Dignity Organization in publishing an article of her experiences with five patients.

Margaret served over twenty-two years active duty in the US Air Force. Her distinguish career took her to places such as Saudi Arabia, South America, Croatia, Europe, Asia and multiple state side locations. Later in her career she became a First Sergeant and was responsible for a Medical Group, Maintenance Squadron and an Intelligence Squadron. Margaret has won numerous awards and decorations. She has a Master’s Degree in Social Work, Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work and Associate’s Degrees in Human Resource Management and Logistics Management.
