SacVERG’s mission is to build a bridge from local employers to the Veteran community.

Join us for the inaugural SacVERG Employer Summit!

This event was created to bring Greater Sacramento-area employers together to recognize the value veterans bring to the workforce and share insights on how, together, we can do more to hire, retain and support our local veterans.

This is a FREE event. You will have an opportunity to network with other employers who are committed to hiring veterans.

AGENDA

The day’s program is designed to educate, inspire and encourage you to understand the value and impact veterans can bring to your company.

You will also have a chance to talk with community nonprofits who service veterans and learn more about their mission and potential partnerships or volunteering opportunities.

Food and drinks will be provided. Plus, we’ll have gift bags and raffle prizes!

PROGRAM DETAILS

Our Keynote Speaker: Thomas McKenzie -Allegiant Giving

Thomas McKenzie is a highly respected leader and advocate within the veteran community. He currently serves as the Vice President of Allegiant Vets. With a distinguished military career over two decades, Thomas has dedicated his life to serving his country and supporting his fellow service members. His journey began when he enlisted in the Marine Corps at a young age, driven by a deep sense of duty and patriotism.

Throughout his career, Thomas demonstrated exceptional leadership, resilience, and dedication. He served in various capacities, from deployments in the Middle East to strategic planning roles, with most of the time spent recruiting for the Marine Corps Recruiting Command. His experiences in combat and peacetime operations have given him a comprehensive understanding of the challenges faced by service members during and after their military careers.

Thomas will be speaking about the evolution of his purpose from his time in the military to his position now as the head of a national non-profit organization dedicated to helping veterans succeed in the civilian workforce.

Seminar Session 1 : Breaking the Myths

This session will cover the myths and misconceptions people have about veterans. The speaker will tell their personal story around this topic and how his journey into civilian life was impacted as a result. His story will tie into the values of hiring veterans and will also offer a short Q & A session at the end.

Seminar Session 2 : Transferrable Skills and Transitioning into Civilian life

This session will cover how skills gained from military experiences translate into skills needed for civilian type jobs. The speaker will tell their personal story around this topic and how his journey into civilian life was impacted as a result. His story will tie into the values of hiring veterans and will also offer a short Q & A session at the end.
