VERG, a CA charitable organization committed to strengthening local business support of veterans, provides an opportunity to network, share and learn how to successfully recruit, hire, and retain veterans in the Sacramento Region.
Sacramento, Calif., (FPRC) May 6, 2021 – The Sacramento VERG, which offers support to local businesses to network and share how to successfully recruit, hire, retain and support veterans, officially launched their services to the community. Sacramento VERG is sponsoring a regional employer survey aimed at identifying challenges and opportunities to better support their veteran-related needs. Businesses looking to participate in the survey (through 06/01/21) and/or to find resources to enhance their veteran talent pool can go to veteranserg.org.
Currently led by Major Jeff Douglas, USAF, Retired and local HR thought leader Shauna Harrington, Senior Director, Outreach and Executive Talent, VSP Global, is operated by volunteers which began as a response to help local businesses who have or seek to create internal employee affinity groups that focus on supporting and recognizing veterans to transition to jobs once they leave the military.

VERG is a coalition that connects employers with a passion to support veterans by facilitating community collaboration, so ultimately veterans and their families thrive,” said Sacramento VERG President, Jeff Douglas. “Now that I am retired, it’s my honor to work with such a group of dedicated volunteers and engaged member companies to bring veterans and businesses closer in ways that both communities’ benefit.”
The original group formed and funded by visionary Chris Haney, veteran and President, DVBE Connect recruited the original grass roots network of professionals from Blue Shield of CA, Intel, Sutter Health, and Virtusa.
